We had a great flyering effort yesterday and managed to get about 400 flyers up to help spread the word that Berdina is still out there and that we are still looking for her! Special thanks to the folks who came out and braved the cold.
We're continuing to work to expand our list of area schools, churches, and businesses so we can reach those folks electronically--if anyone is interested in helping with that effort, please let us know by leaving a comment!
We believe Berdina has a steady food source other than at the feeding stations and we need to figure out where that source is in order to eventually get her tied to a feeding pattern. To that end, we're contacting area listserves again reaching out to area feral cat colony managers to ask them if they've seen Berdina at their feeding stations and if we can mount a camera on their stations to see if Berdina is getting a snack there. If you have other ideas about locations where Berdina may be feeding, again please leave a comment.
We'd like to make another flyering/canvassing push on Sunday, and then for folks who are off on Monday, it would be great if area businesses not normally open on the weekend could be visited in person, to distribute flyers. PLEASE JOIN US!
Thanks, all, for your continued assistance!

I'd like to help with the list of businesses, etc. I can also go flyering again on Sunday. The dumpsters at the Kirkwood are a possible food source. There are about a dozen of them and they are always overflowing--whole chickens, packages of meat, etc. are visible. (Also at Ager Road apartments, but there is only one dumpster.) There were three sightings of Berdina at the Kirkwood that are not listed on either of the blogs. On Dec. 3 Lara received two calls: one from a man reporting a dog that looked like B on Nicholson near the Kirkwood and another from a woman reporting a dog that looked like B on Lancer at the Kirkwood. Then on 12/13 when Lori and I were at Kirkwood we talked to a maintenance man named Jesse who said he had seen a dog that looked like our flyer the week before, near 2614 or 2616 Nicholson.

Jean,
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering to help with the business lists--I'll contact you off blog with details. Happy to hear you can join us again on Sunday, and thanks for the addditional tips about feeding options. We are of the belief that the dumpsters are emptied daily--do you know if that is correct?
Thanks also for the additional sightings--we'lll update the map!
